Cellist Meng-Hsuan Shieh received his first cello lesson at the age of six. His early talent and passion for Cello led him to study in Germany. During 2012-2021, he studied his bachelor’s and master’s degree at the “University of music and theater Munich”, with Prof. Reiner Ginzel. After received his master’s degree with the highest score “sehr gut” (1.0) , he proceed studying Konzertexamen at the “University of music and theater Leipzig” with Prof. Peter Hoerr. In Leipzig he was appointed as teaching assistant for Cello and Chamber music and was frequently invited for solo and chamber music performance, including performed a Solo Matinee in the Leipzig old cityhall (Altes Rathaus). In 2023 he received his Konzertexamen degree with distinction (mit Auszeichnung). 

With his outstanding cellistic performance, he had won several awards in “Gustav Mahler International Competition” and “International Malopolska Music Competition”, received scholarship from Yehudi Menuhin Fundation and scholarship from the ministry of education (Taiwan), he was selected to participate Masterclasses held by reknowned Cellist, including 

Wolfgang Boettcher, Wen-Sinn Yang, Daniel Mueller-Schott...etc.

Besides solo, he is also dedicated in chamber music and orchestral performance. He was appointed as Solocellist in HSO (Hochschule symphony orchestra), and received Orchestral rehearsal & concert experience under the baton from Herbert Blomstedt(2013), John Eliot Gardiner(2014) and Mariss Jansons(2017). During 2017-2020, he was part of Orchestra Akademie of “Munich symphony orchestra” and later in “Hessen state orchestra Wiesbaden”. In the 2022/23 season he was assistant Cellist in Oper Leipzig. 

He is the members of “Arcis Cello Quartet”(Munich) since 2015. Together with his Quartet, they have performed in Major concert halls in Germany and Taiwan, such as Munich Philharmonie, Stuttgart Philharmonie, Schloss Nymphenburg, Schloss Hoheschwangau, National Concert Hall and National Taichung Theater. In 2017 they have been invited to perform in Nobel Laureate Meetings in Lindau(Germany).
