Chia-Hsuan Tsai｜ Harpsichord
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, She obtained the Konzertexam of flute at Hochschule der Künste Berlin, and the Konzertexam of harpsichord at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig. She is currently the Adjunct Assistant Professor at National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei National University of the Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts, National Yang-Ming Chiao-Tung University and Fu Jen Catholic University. She is renowned as a flutist and harpsichordist, and was acknowledged by several international competitions. She has collaborated with many notable musicians domestic and abroad, and has been invited to international period music festivals. Her harpsichord solo albums were shortlisted as Best Classic Album of the 22nd Golden Melody Awards, as well won the Best Art Music and Best Recording of the 29th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts. Besides performing and teaching, she has endeavored to popularize early European music in Taiwan, and has been invited to deliver talks and performances. She founded Barock Ensemble Taipei in 2014, holding lectures and concerts regularly.
Aside from promoting early European music, Tsai has been devoted to connecting the harpsichord with contemporary music, extending her repertoire to 20th and 21st century music, commissioning as well as premiering several compositions by Taiwanese composers. Among those projects were: A ballet-opera-buffa collaborated with WCdance and Philharmonia Moments Musicaux; Barockfest with magicians; A concert combining the dessert art The Dessert Rhapsody.
Through concerts, lectures and podcasts, Tsai has dedicated herself to the promotion of early European music. With collaborations with contemporary composers and artists, she opened up a new path for the period and modern music.
