Feng-Shu Lee received her Ph. D. in music history and theory from the University of Chicago. She received her Master of Music in musicology, Master of Music in violin performance, and Bachelor of Music in violin performance from New England Conservatory (Boston, MA). Lee is currently an assistant professor in musicology at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU)'s Institute of Music. Before accepting the position at NCTU, she served as an assistant professor at Tunghai University (Taichung, Taiwan), the University of Chicago, DePaul University (Chicago, IL), and the National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei, Taiwan). Her research interests include opera history; Romantic music, German philosophy, and theology; and the relationship between music, literature, science, and fine arts in the 19th century. Her teaching interests include the History of Western Art Music, Music Aesthetics, Music Resources and Scholarly Writing, Introduction to Writing about Music, String Literature, and Orchestra Literature. Topic-oriented courses and seminars that she has taught include Instrumental Music and Improvisation; EastWest Encounter in Music, Architecture, and Fine Arts; History of Romantic Opera; Topics in 19th-Century European Music; Wagner in Context; and Seminar on Romantic Music.
