Performance Practicum on Duo Sonatas for String and Piano I

Course Overview and Objectives

Through the performance perspectives and modes of thinking of different instruments, this course strengthens students’ experience in performing duo sonatas through practical work and discussion, while helping them establish a reasonable interpretive style.

At the same time, by engaging with this most concise form of chamber music performance, the course trains students’ understanding and expressive ability in chamber music, bringing them closer to the spirit of chamber music education emphasized by the Performance Division of the Institute of Music.

Course Overview and Objectives

With the Institute of Music’s semesterly composition presentation, Concert of IMU “Tunes of Bamboo” as its goal, this course helps students in music composition and performance develop mutual understanding of the compositional concepts and techniques behind the works, while also exploring performance practice and planning the stage technology required for presentation.
