Exhibition Statement
This transnational pedagogical project and exhibition, hosted by Assoc. Prof. Chao-Ming Tung, is led by Hans W. Koch, a professor of Sound Art at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in Germany. A total of nine installation works are presented in this exhibition.
From philosophical and aesthetic perspectives, these works re-examine sound installations as a medium for reviewing human history and exploring the future. Amidst the global surge of digital technology and AI applications, the exhibition creates sound art without using loudspeakers. It returns to physical perception through the interface of human senses, re-evaluating and reconstructing the relationship between humans and the natural environment. Furthermore, it maps out a collaborative model between new technology and humanity, forging a new path toward spiritual and sensory perception for the modern era.
In Ear Film by Feng-Ran Wu, photographic light is transformed into sonic resonance. Meanwhile, Che-Yu Liao’s Wasp - Baba Yaga invokes inner anxiety and fear through the sounds of technological warfare. It Sounds Better! will touch the resonance and harmony of the audience's mind and body entirely through natural sound and light frequencies.
