| Music Colloquium 8 – Transformed Traditions – The Piano Language of Liszt, Ligeti, and Kurtág

| Speaker: Yin Chiang, pianist based in Germany

| Date & Time: Tuesday, May 26, 13:20–15:10

| Venue: Music Forum Space, B1 Auditorium, Guangfu Campus

| Host: Professor Chao-Ming Tung

The lecture focused on three composers who, across generations, have shaped the very conception of the piano — Franz Liszt, György Ligeti, and György Kurtág. Each represents an era in which the expressive and technical language of the instrument was reinvented: Liszt, a romantic visionary of the 19th century; Ligeti, a 20th-century explorer of sound and structure; and Kurtág, to this day, as a master of reduction. What unites them is a profound awareness of sound — as a vessel of memory, a trace of motion, and a gesture of human expression.
