This lecture explores how Western piano pedagogy can be effectively adapted within Taiwan’s music education context. It focuses on integrating Western teaching theories with local practices, emphasizing a student-centered and life-oriented approach. The discussion examines how piano teachers can preserve the core spirit of Western pedagogy while addressing Taiwanese students’ learning habits, cultural background, and academic pressures.

Beginning with theoretical foundations, the lecture extends to practical applications—illustrating how abstract pedagogical concepts can be translated into concrete one-on-one teaching strategies. It also reflects on the challenges and opportunities educators encounter when balancing cultural adaptation with artistic integrity.

Through the fusion of Eastern and Western approaches, this lecture proposes a more relevant and sustainable piano learning model for contemporary Asian students. By bridging tradition and local innovation, it envisions a pathway toward the continued growth of classical music education in Taiwan.
