Biography of the Performer:
Hailed as “an extraordinary pianist” (Boston Globe) and “a true maverick”
(The Chautauqua Daily), Ju-Ping Song is recognized as one of today’s
champions of classical contemporary music. She is the founder and
director of NakedEye Ensemble, an electro-acoustic new music group
based in Lancaster, PA, with whom she has commissioned over forty new
works. With NakedEye, she has released three albums, Storylines
Crossing (Starkland 2018), Toy (New Focus Recordings 2019), and A
Series of Indecipherable Glyphs (New Focus Recordings 2022). Her debut
solo album, MONAD, described as “superhuman” (Night After Night), was
released in December 2024 on Starkland Records. In addition to
performing worldwide, she is a regular guest artist at Universities in Taiwan.
Ju-Ping is a founding member of FLAME (Florence, Italy), and has been on
the faculties of New York University, Hunter College, and Pennsylvania
Academy of Music. Her latest project is experimenting with the use of fx
pedals at the piano in search of a broader sonic experience.
