Congratulations! Yi-Tzu HUANG's work "Missed Call", a graduate student majoring in composition, was selected for NYCEMF 2025 New York Electronic Music Festival. (Instructor:Assistant Professor Fang-Wei Luo).

Composed in 2024, the work "Missed Call" portrays the subtle distance in a relationship. The sound material, based on the electronic timbres of flute, not only imitate the intonations of female voice but also motivates the dynamic of timbral gestures throughout whole piece. The contrapuntal voices are like faint signals. Sometimes they are close but never really connected. The main melody symbolizes the directly emotional expression, moving and transforming between clarity and ambiguity. On the contrary, the background of electric sound depicts the potential feeling of humans. All the voices are fused with overlapping and staggering texture, creating a soundscape that implies contradictory and regretful feelings. The unfulfilled emotion is emphasized by the sudden interruption in the end of the work.
