Congratulations! Feng-ran Wu's work "Raise", a graduate student majoring in computer music, was selected for NYCEMF 2025 New York Electronic Music Festival. (Instructor: Professor Yu-Chung TSENG).

Concept and Motivation

This composition explores the use of continuous and linear metallic timbres as the central axis, developed through various sound transformation techniques. The title Raise symbolizes "elevation" or "lifting," aiming to evoke a sense of anticipation in the listener through the interplay of continuity and contrast in sound lines. The primary sound sources include a large gong, vajra bell, and crotales. By employing distinct striking techniques—ranging from light, heavy, to rapid strokes—the composition achieves auditory effects of rotation, oscillation, and seamless prolongation.
