- Taipei National University of the Art Library

Internationally renowned music scholar Professor Philip V. Bohlman received the International Balzan Prize in 2022, an award to be used for starting dialogues on global and intra-local soundscapes, dialogues that welcome and encourage participation of young scholars, in particular. Prof. Bohlman suggests a symposium on this topic in Taiwan. After multiple discussions between various faculty members from Taipei National University of the Arts and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, a symposium will take place for this purpose. The main purpose of this symposium is to create a link with the Balzan Project’s ongoing series, “Borderlands of Sonic Encounter.” It will synchronize with current scholarly trends in the global music research, while highlighting Taiwan’s unique position in the study of global soundscape. This call for proposals (CFP) is open to emerging scholars based in Taiwan, including assistant professors, postdoctoral researchers, Ph.D. holders working outside academic institutions (such as university), graduate students (both master and Ph.D.), and ABD scholars.
DEADLINE FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS: 31st March 2025.
(Notification of accepted papers will be sent by 10th April.)
