About the Ensemble
Founded in 2007, the Bus No. 2 Experimental Music Improvisation Ensemble grew out of the “Experimental Music Improvisation” performance course at the Institute of Music, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.
Past members include outstanding improvising musicians such as Li Shih-Yang, one of Taiwan’s leading young improvising pianists; Liu Chun-Te, an improvising guzheng performer and dancer; and percussionist Yu Tan-Ling.
Improvised music begins with the essence of sound, discovering the logic of spontaneous creation and reaching the ultimate freedom of musical play. Bus No. 2 is the public transportation route that connects NYCU with the outside world. Through it, we hope to open the doors of the university and bring the dynamic energy of improvised music into every corner of everyday life.
